Our Story

Playful Paws of WNY is a locally owned dog daycare and training center. While Rebecca worked for many years in dog training and dog daycare, she saw a need for a facility that truly understood dog behavior and body language. She knew that the behavior knowledge and training was essential to giving dogs a safe and enriching place to play and learn. Rebecca has worked since 2008 in dog daycare and dog training, starting as an intern for an animal behaviorist and continuing to learn from other trainers and dog daycare facilities until she decided to open at Playful Paws. She graduated from Houghton College with a psychology and business degree and is a Karen Pryor Clicker Training Graduate.

Rebecca and her staff believe positive reinforcement/science-based training is the best and only way to train and work with animals. At Playful Paws, we strive to make a safe play environment, an enriching training environment, and to make every dog feel as though they are one of our own.

Meet The Team

Miss Andrea has been working in dog daycare since 2016 when she started out as a Daycare Assistant at the former K9 Kids Club. When the facility changed over to Playful Paws of WNY in 2018, she became our Daycare Lead and Manager. She was also a volunteer at the SPCA Serving Erie County for over 5 years as a Kennel Assistant, Canine Adoption Assistant, and member of the Canine Enrichment team. Although she has three kitties at home, there is no doubt that every pup she meets at daycare leaves a pawprint on her heart! She truly cares for and loves each one as if they were her own! Miss Andrea is currently enjoying her new role as our PPWNY Office Manager, and we are grateful to have such a loyal and experienced member of our Playful Paws staff!

Daycare Assistant

Daycare Assistant

Miss Nicole graduated from Canisius College’s Animal Behavior, Ecology and Conservation (ABEC) program in 2020 and has worked with companion animals in both dog daycares and animal shelters ever since. We welcomed her to our Playful Paws family as a Daycare Assistant in 2020, and after taking a brief leave, she is happy to be back with all of her dog friends, new and old! We are proud to have such a well-educated staff member at PPWNY with such invaluable hands-on experience!

Daycare Assistant

Miss Danielle graduated from Canisius College in 2020 with degrees in Animal Behavior, Ecology and Conservation (ABEC) and Psychology. After graduation, she worked at the SPCA Serving Erie County for nearly 2 years as the Canine Lead of the Behavior and Research Department. In addition to joining PPWNY as a Daycare Attendant in 2022, she is also the proud owner of her own business, Digitails by Dea, LLC Pet Care and Photography! Miss Danielle is a Fear Free Certified Professional and hopes to obtain her dog training certification through IAABC this year! She is an incredible asset to our PPWNY staff, and we are thankful for all of the strengths she brings to our team!

Daycare Assistant

Miss Gillian joined our Playful Paws staff as a Daycare Assistant in 2022 after completing two years of grooming school. She is currently studying at NCCC, majoring in Biological Studies. Working with animals of all shapes and sizes has always been a passion of hers, and the science part she is learning about is just a bonus! When she is not with the pups at PPWNY, Miss Gillian spends her time at a horse barn caring for her special (and spoiled) pony as well as riding and caring for all of the others! We are thrilled to have such a hard-working and enthusiastic animal lover as a part of our PPWNY staff!

Miss Makenzy first began interning at our facility dating back to K9 Kids Club in 2016. She also served as an intern for PPWNY before being welcomed onto our staff as a Daycare Assistant in 2019! She has acquired proper animal care skills and an understanding of dog behavior from her experience working as a dog groomer at Darcy’s Grooming and also completing the Animal Science course at BOCES Career and Technical Center. Miss Makenzy’s hard work and dedication to providing a fun and safe play environment at PPWNY make her an ideal member of our daycare team!
